Our initial programming model is a series of hybrid performance-talk-parties (called Salons), where we celebrate and explore distinct cultures and cultural communities in the Twin Cities, one group at a time. With an emphasis on hospitality, good food and conversation, participants enjoy performances and guided conversations led by guest artists who are familiar with the traditions, values and social composition of their community.
Not only do these events offer the opportunity to hear about cultures, stories and traditions from neighbors with whom we have little direct contact on a daily basis, we also actively encourage participants to access their own cultural roots (if their connection has lapsed) and even to awaken an interest in a particular culture that might not be one’s own.
People of all ages and backgrounds are welcome. The events are free to all who take part. Join our mailing list to find out more.
